Before we begin this unit, we need to clarify exactly what "literary analysis" is. What does is mean to analyze a text? Let's answer that together using this picture from Time Magazines "Top Ten Photos of 2012."
As we view it, consider what you see in terms of the following:
1. WHAT is actually in the picture that cannot be disputed? Summarize what you see.
2. HOW do the pieces of the picture come together to reflect something deeper? How can we interpret something beyond just what we see?
