Welcome to the second semester of your first year of high school! We are going to begin by taking time to reflect on the first semester and set some goals to work toward this spring. After we settle into our new seats, we'll take 7-8 minutes to respond to the following prompt:
#10 Looking Back
What are your thoughts on completing your first semester as a high school student? Is it different than you thought it would be? Why or why not? Academically speaking, what went well for you? What didn't? Looking back on it now, why do you think that is?
Now that you have a little perspective, please end this entry by adding two more thoughts:
Next we will begin working on our mini-research project to kick off this next term. First, I'll explain the book requirements for this project. Then we'll spend some time brainstorming in small groups what kind of topics we might find in our books. If a title sounds interesting today, feel free to check it out!
We will NOT have a reading goal this week, but you will need to have a NEW book to begin reading in class on Friday. We will spend some time exploring the library for options at the end of the hour today.

Now that you have a little perspective, please end this entry by adding two more thoughts:
- Describe one thing you are looking forward to this semester.
- Set one (school-related) goal for yourself that is achievable by June.
